Our Bees at Areena

Posted on: October 2, 2020, in Adventure & Fun, News

The Areena honeybee hives have been busy during lock down. While we have all been at home under quarantine, and lockdown levels, the honey bees have been hard at work gathering pollen, and making honey in our hives. They have been enjoying the winter flowering trees and plants throughout the Areena private game reserve and resort.

We have some delicious honey on sale at reception, pure delicious Areena golden honey. The word is, that the honey is delicious, pure with no additives. Pop in and get yourself a jar of this wonderful honey to enjoy at home.

Did you know that all honeybees live together in hives or nests as they are social insects? They communicate information to their fellow bees with dancing movements performed in the hive, they dance out location, size, and quality of the food source they have found.

In the honey bee’s life time of about 6 weeks, it will make only one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey. So enjoy our honey when you next spread it on your toast, use it to sweeten your tea, or dribble over your waffle.

Welcome bees into your garden, they are hardworking, social insects with vital importance to our worlds survival.

We love our bees.
