Timber Chalets

ABOUT OUR TIMBER CHALETS

Riverside timber chalets are set on the banks of the river, a few hundred metres from the main hub of the resort, and offer a truly peaceful riverside stay to reconnect with nature.

Each chalet has a queen size bed in the main bedroom with two single beds in the second bedroom (“The Larks” has a bunk bed in the second bedroom), comfortably accommodating 4 people. The 4 timber chalets have full bathrooms, The Larks, has a bath, (there is an “outdoor shower”). The covered timber deck facing the river is the perfect spot for viewing the game that often wanders through the garden in this area.

The unit has one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen for self catering, with cleaning equipment and detergent included. Linen and bath towels are included, but please bring along a swimming/beach towel. If a service is required there is an additional charge, please arrange with reception. All units have DSTV offering the Easy View Bouquet, which shows ETV and the SABC channels ONLY. You are welcome to bring along your own DECODER and DSTV card if you wish to have your own full DSTV bouquet. The communal lounge (above the restaurant) has the full DSTV bouquet, which is available for guests to make use of.

Fantastic family resort

"Areena is a wonderful place for camping with children. There are 2 playgrounds, a beautiful, large pool, plenty of space and so much for them to do. The grounds and ablutions are well kept. Areena is our favourite place to go camping; we camp here at least once a year."

"I want to camp at Areena, I want to do all the excursions, I want to get married at Areena, I want to have a romantic dinner at the restaurant... I want to do it all. I need to go back to Areena ASAP...my time there was too short and I didn't get a chance to do everything I wanted to do. A definite favourite for me...I thoroughly enjoyed it."

A truly wonderful place

"We stayed for three nights camping with a caravan. The setting is just stunning. To wake up by the river each morning and enjoy the breathtaking beauty was amazing.
The facilities are excellent and the staff super. Everyone was so accommodating, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. We loved every moment in this unique and special place. We’d love to return one day and hope and pray that after the difficult months of fighting COVID-19 in South Africa Areena will thrive again."

Great getaway

"Whenever you feel like life is just getting too much, Areena is the best place to go. It has activities for the children, you can launch your own boat, some fishing for Dad and Mom if she likes and a great Spa. The staff are all friendly and attend to all needs."

Special Place

"We have visited Areena Resort 5 times in our caravan. Each time has been an amazing experience of a simply outstandingly beautiful place. Early morning reflections off the water are amazing making for some special photography. Bird life is excellent another good reason for bring your cameras as are the many photos you can get of the wildlife in the area. At trip up the river to the river mouth is a must for any quest as is a meal or 6 at the restaurant which provides great food and excellent service. For the campers there is a nice SPAR 10 minutes away for your supplies when needed. I would and actually do recommend a stay here for any nature lover."
